Mel & Scott

Meet Mel & Scott

Intended Parent – Burlington, ON

Mel and Scott live in beautiful Burlington, Ontario, where Mel works as a Senior Consultant in HR Technology & Transformation and Scott is a writer. Together for more than a decade and married since 2019, they have built a life filled with love, laughter, and meaningful traditions. They are working with ONE Fertility and have two embryos ready as they continue their journey toward becoming parents.

After experiencing the heartbreak of a pregnancy that ended for medical reasons due to severe pregnancy-related mental health complications, Mel and Scott made the difficult but hopeful decision to pursue surrogacy. While their path to parenthood has not been what they originally imagined, their dream of welcoming a child has never changed. They believe surrogacy offers them the opportunity to grow their family with the help of an extraordinary person whose kindness they will never take for granted.

Family has always been at the center of their lives. They both grew up surrounded by loving parents and grandparents and hope to create that same warm, supportive environment for a child of their own. Their rescue dog, Hank, whom they adopted in 2024, has brought endless joy to their home, and they can't wait to share that love with a future son or daughter. They dream of having two children, but know they would feel incredibly grateful to welcome even one.

Mel and Scott are surrounded by a strong network of family and friends who have supported them throughout every step of their fertility journey. Their parents, siblings, extended family, and close friends have been constant sources of encouragement, and they know their future child will grow up surrounded by love, guidance, and unwavering support.

In their free time, they enjoy quiet moments together reading with coffee in hand, tending their backyard garden, completing jigsaw puzzles, working out, and taking long walks with Hank. They love celebrating the holidays, exploring local cafés and parks, playing nostalgic video games, and giving back to their community through charitable initiatives. Their home is filled with warmth, creativity, and plenty of laughter.

They hope to build a genuine relationship with their surrogate based on trust, openness, and honest communication. They would love to share updates, celebrate milestones together, and support their surrogate throughout the pregnancy while always respecting her comfort level and wishes. They also hope their child will grow up knowing the incredible person who helped bring them into the world.

Mel and Scott are excited to share life's simple joys with their future child—from holiday traditions and bedtime stories to family outings, creativity, and discovering whatever passions their child chooses to pursue. More than anything, they look forward to creating a home where love, kindness, imagination, and belonging are felt every single day.
