Meet Jeff and Justin. We’ve been together for 6½ wonderful years, and our story began in a very modern way — through the dating app Tinder. Justin was living in Vancouver, while Jeff was on Vancouver Island. Justin was actually on the verge of deleting the app, but Jeff’s thoughtful, sincere messages changed everything. Every conversation felt meaningful, and it was clear early on that Jeff was someone special.
Jeff took the ferry to Vancouver for our first meeting, and from the moment we spent that first day together, we both felt something rare and real. Justin knew immediately that he loved Jeff. That day truly set the foundation for the life we’ve built since.
Our family includes Luna, our 4½-year-old St. Bernese. She’s playful, loving, gentle, and brings joy to everyone she meets. Whether we’re going on hikes, exploring trails, or relaxing at home, she’s always by our side.
What Inspires Us
Justin:
My father is my greatest inspiration. He immigrated to Canada at age 10 with very little, but through determination and hard work he learned English, earned university degrees in Engineering and Biochemistry, and eventually became a dentist. He owned four successful practices in Calgary and gave our family a wonderful life. He’s now 69, yet still curious, tech-savvy, and constantly learning. His resilience, strength, and love have shaped who I am.
Jeff:
Two people inspire me deeply: my Aunt Carmen and my sister, Trisha.
My Aunt Carmen cared for me from ages 1–5 and has always been a second mother. She is a strong, empowered woman — a breast cancer survivor and a highly respected lawyer in the Philippines for 40 years before retiring. Coming out to her was challenging, but she ultimately embraced me with love and understanding. She remains one of the most important people in my life.
My sister, Trisha, is an example of independence and inner strength. She lives life on her own terms, and whenever I need motivation or grounding, she’s the one who gives me the pep talk I need. Her resilience inspires me every day.
Our Interests & Everyday Life
Justin: In my free time, I love spending time with Jeff — working on home projects, caring for Luna, or exploring the outdoors. We’re both dedicated to fitness and train together at our local CrossFit gym 4–5 times per week. We enjoy trying new restaurants around Vancouver, relaxing at home with Netflix, and spending time with family. I also play volleyball and enjoy online games with friends and relatives.
Jeff: I start most mornings with yoga — a daily practice that grounds me. I also love running twice a week, which gives me space to think, plan, and recharge. Cooking is another passion, and I enjoy researching new recipes to make for us. When I have extra time, I read or listen to political discussions and current events. Staying informed is important to me.
Our Dream of Becoming Parents
From the very first day we met, we talked about our future — and family was always at the heart of it. Both of us knew from a young age that becoming parents would be challenging for us, but it never stopped us from dreaming. Over the years, that dream has grown stronger. We envision a home filled with love, learning, laughter, and the kind of support we were both lucky to receive from our families.
We’re excited and hopeful for the journey ahead, and we look forward to growing our family with the same love, commitment, and joy that have shaped our life together.
Quick overview on a few things you need to know about becoming a surrogate in Canada:
You must be a female of 21-49 years of age
Have delivered one or more child(ren) of your own
Have experienced healthy pregnancies and births
Lead a healthy lifestyle and be physically/mentally healthy in general
Surrogates in Canada are:
Reimbursed all of their expenses. (average $20,000-40,000)
Can apply for 15 weeks of maternity leave (if eligible)
Have independent legal representation and a legal contract
Will travel to the Intended Parents clinic - all costs covered
