Meet Mervin & Eloy

We’re Mervin and Daniel, partners for ten years and currently living in Melbourne, Australia. We first met online, but our real story began on a Saturday morning in a small café — the kind of warm, ordinary moment that ended up changing both our lives.
Our home is shared with Theo, our affectionate six-year-old tuxedo cat, who believes he runs the household. We love hosting dinners with friends, but we’re just as happy spending quiet evenings on the couch with Theo curled between us.
We come from families who have shown us the meaning of love, support, and resilience. Their example has shaped the kind of parents we hope to be.
Daniel loves baking and reading, especially fantasy novels. Merv collects old typewriters, enjoys running, and aims to write one handwritten letter every week. Together, we balance each other in all the best ways.
For the past eight years, we’ve been working toward building our family. We’ve learned so much about adoption, permanent care, and surrogacy in Australia. After years of training, applications, interviews, and reflection, we chose surrogacy — the path that feels right for us. We’ve both always wanted to be parents, even before we met; when we found each other, that dream only grew stronger.
We’re excited, hopeful, and deeply grateful to be taking these next steps toward becoming dads.
Quick overview on a few things you need to know about becoming a surrogate in Canada:
You must be a female of 21-49 years of age
Have delivered one or more child(ren) of your own
Have experienced healthy pregnancies and births
Lead a healthy lifestyle and be physically/mentally healthy in general
Surrogates in Canada are:
Reimbursed all of their expenses. (average $20,000-40,000)
Can apply for 15 weeks of maternity leave (if eligible)
Have independent legal representation and a legal contract
Will travel to the Intended Parents clinic - all costs covered
