Nathan & Stephan

Meet Nathan & Stephan

Intended Parents – Ottawa, Ontario

Nathan and Stephan live in Ottawa, Ontario, where Nathan works as a Union National Representative in Health and Safety, and Stephan is a Union Executive Assistant. Together for 12 years and married for three, they have built a life filled with love, laughter and a strong sense of community. Now, they are hoping to fulfil their longtime dream of becoming dads.

Their story began at a fundraiser at Nathan’s workplace, where Stephan was volunteering as a photographer. Nathan was drawn to Stephan’s genuine smile and kindness, while Stephan admired Nathan’s sense of justice and humour. A first date led to building a home together and a relationship grounded in curiosity, care and mutual support.

The couple enjoy travelling, exploring nature, attending cultural events and hosting family and friends. From dinner parties to summer evenings at the cottage, they treasure time with the people they love. Nathan enjoys film, writing, weaving and baking, while Stephan loves gardening, biking and learning about the world around him.

As devoted uncles, Nathan and Stephan find joy in playing with their nieces and nephews and hearing about their interests. They cannot wait to share new foods, cultures and adventures with a child of their own, while encouraging them to discover who they are.

Their path to parenthood has included a difficult setback when a dear friend who hoped to be their surrogate was unable to proceed for medical reasons. They remain close friends and continue their journey with hope. They are working with Victory Reproductive Care and have nine PGT-tested embryos ready.

Nathan and Stephan hope to build a relationship with their surrogate rooted in kindness, honesty and open communication. They would welcome opportunities to attend appointments, share milestones and offer support throughout pregnancy, always respecting her wishes and comfort. After birth, they would love to stay connected through updates and family celebrations, if she wishes, and remain attentive to her recovery and wellbeing.

“We want to introduce the world to our child, and learn about it through their eyes.”

Surrounded by supportive family, friends and community, Nathan and Stephan are ready to welcome a child into a home filled with compassion, curiosity and love.
