Daan and Jaap met more than six years ago, beginning a journey built on love, commitment, and shared dreams. They were married in March 2022 and currently live in Amsterdam, where they’ve created a life together rooted in warmth and connection. Soon, they’ll be moving to a new home just outside the city, surrounded by nature—a place they envision as the perfect setting to raise a family.
Jaap works as a legal advisor, while Daan is a primary school teacher, a role that reflects his natural love for children and learning. Together, they bring a balance of care, stability, and enthusiasm to everything they do.
“Having children has always been one of our deepest desires,” they share. “As a gay couple, we never imagined this would be possible. When we learned about surrogacy, it felt like our dream of becoming parents suddenly came within reach. We hope we can begin building our family very soon.”

Quick overview on a few things you need to know about becoming a surrogate in Canada:
You must be a female of 21-49 years of age
Have delivered one or more child(ren) of your own
Have experienced healthy pregnancies and births
Lead a healthy lifestyle and be physically/mentally healthy in general
Surrogates in Canada are:
Reimbursed all of their expenses. (average $20,000-40,000)
Can apply for 15 weeks of maternity leave (if eligible)
Have independent legal representation and a legal contract
Will travel to the Intended Parents clinic - all costs covered
