Meet Giacomo & Fabio
Intended Parents – Milano
Giacomo and Fabio’s story began online in 2013, and their first date almost didn’t happen. In fact, Giacomo got stood up at dinner that night. After playing a little hard to get for a few days, he gave things another chance, and they’ve been together ever since. They celebrated their civil union in 2017, are now married and call Milan, Italy, home. Giacomo is a chartered accountant, and Fabio works as an executive in the fashion industry.
They love the energy of Milan, from its food and design to the small restaurants they discover together, but they’re just as happy spending a weekend in the Alps with their dog, Queen. They enjoy cooking for friends, skiing and scuba diving, and they’re equally fond of a slow Sunday at home with a book or a good series. Fabio admires how steady Giacomo stays when life gets complicated, while Giacomo loves how Fabio notices the little things and takes care of the people around him.
Becoming dads has been a shared dream since the early years of their relationship. As they explored surrogacy abroad, they were drawn to Canada’s altruistic approach and the opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with their surrogate. They’re working with CReATe Fertility Centre and are awaiting their donor’s genetic results before moving forward with embryo creation. They plan to transfer one embryo at a time, and their closest friends are already asking for updates.
Even from Milan, Giacomo and Fabio want to be present and easy to reach. They’d love to check in regularly, join milestone appointments in person or by video, and plan visits around what works for their surrogate. They hope to be in Canada ahead of the due date and would love to attend the birth if she’s comfortable having them there. Afterward, they’d welcome an ongoing friendship, whether that means sharing photos, celebrating birthdays or getting together when they can. They hope their child will grow up knowing the woman who helped bring them into the world, in whatever way feels right for her and her family.
When Giacomo and Fabio picture becoming dads, they think of Sunday breakfasts, long walks with Queen and the excitement of taking their child on a first trip. They can’t wait to share their love of the outdoors, introduce their little one to new foods and languages, and discover what makes their child light up.
