Intended Parents – British Columbia

Meet Christian & Kwokmun

Christian and Kwokmun live in vibrant Vancouver, British Columbia, where they’ve built a life defined by love, purpose, and shared dreams. Christian is an elementary school teacher, and Kwokmun works as a data analyst. Their story began in April 2009 in Chicago, Illinois, when they met through Match.com. What started as an online connection quickly became something much deeper—proof that sometimes the most meaningful relationships begin through a simple leap of faith.

As they began imagining their future together, Christian and Kwokmun explored different paths to parenthood. They initially considered open adoption, but after learning more about the process and its potential complexities, they felt drawn to surrogacy. For them, surrogacy offers a deeply meaningful opportunity to grow their family and to welcome a child who is biologically connected to them—an idea that fills them with hope and excitement.

Christian has always known he wanted to be a parent. As the youngest of four siblings, family life was always at the center of his world. His oldest nephew is only ten years younger than him, and Christian still remembers the moment he first held him—an experience that confirmed his desire to become a father. Over the years, Christian has dedicated his life to working with children in many different settings, including preschools, elementary programs, residential facilities, and counselling roles. Today, he teaches Grade 1 with the Vancouver School Board, where his patience, warmth, and passion for education shine every day.

When Christian and Kwokmun first met, Kwokmun wasn’t certain that parenthood was part of his future. But as their relationship grew, so did his openness to the idea. Over time, he found himself wanting to share his knowledge, care, and love with a child of his own. Together, they’ve reached this moment feeling aligned, hopeful, and deeply excited about the possibility of starting a family.

“We are very excited to work with a team throughout our surrogacy journey, knowing that the surrogate is an essential part of that team,” they share. “We could not have a child without this incredible person in our lives. We look forward to standing alongside her every step of the way—watching the baby grow and, ultimately, welcoming our precious child into the world. Depending on her wishes, we hope to continue a meaningful relationship with her and our family.”

Christian and Kwokmun’s journey is one shaped by love, patience, and mutual growth. As they take this next step toward parenthood, they do so with open hearts and deep gratitude—for each other, for the process, and for the extraordinary person who will help make their dream of family a reality.
